What are some of
the styles of yoga at OAY?
*
Yoga 4 Everybody - Learn the postures and modify them to your body
type. This class is excellent for someone who is flexibly challenged,
has an existing injury, or is just new to yoga.
* Hatha Yoga - The basis of all yoga taught today in the Western world. A gentle yet
challanging style of yoga available to all levels of practice.
*Vinyasa Yoga - A flowing style of yoga that allows the movement to be
initiated by the breath. It incorporates Iyengar, Flow and Ashtanga
yoga. Intro, Levels 1 & 2
* Baby Boomer Yoga - Practice of postures that focus on yoga for the more
mature adult.
* Teen Yoga - A classes for 13-17
year olds combining traditional postures with current music to provide
a fun way to get to know yoga
* Moms & Babies - Spend some
time with your baby and still be able to relax, stretch and laugh.
Taught by a mom-to-eight, so she'll understand.
* Ashtanga Yoga - The ‘eight-limbed
yoga’including movement &breath control combined with internal body
heat to create a practice that detoxifies organs and
muscles, cleaning the body and calming the mind.
* Kripalu Yoga - The "Yoga of Compassion". Postures are held for a
longer time to increase stamina and strength as well as giving the student a better
knowledge of the postures.
* Kundalini Yoga - concentrates on the charkras (psychic centres in the
body) in order to generate a spiritual power known as Kundalini energy).
* Little Yoginis & Parents - A
great way for 3 to 6 yr olds to spend time with parents (or
caregivers). Hey, their lives are stressful too.
* Yoga in Depth - Concentration is
focused on breath and body alignment.Individual postures are held for a longer duration
for greater inner awareness.
* Yoga with Breath - Kundalini Yoga concetrates on the connection
between the practice of yoga and the breath.
* Flow Yoga - Postures are smoothly linked together with the breath
creating an intense, meditative practice. A Flow Yoga class is a
'guided practice' done with eyes closed. Students need to be
familiar with Yoga poses before taking this type of class.
